EPA proposal would ease renewable fuel mandate for 2014

The Environmental Protection Agency has proposed lowering the amount of ethanol and other biofuels that must be combined with U.S. fuel, according to these reports. The agency plans to require between 12.7 billion and 13.2 billion gallons of ethanol to be blended in fuel, down from 16.55 billion gallons this year. The EPA will hold a 60-day comment period to get public feedback on the move, which could result in job losses and setbacks for the biodiesel industry.
