European authorities are poised to discuss MiFID

Last month, EU Internal Market Commissioner Michel Barnier warned other European officials against reining in the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive. This week, officials of the European Parliament and member states will meet to discuss the trading directive, which covers stocks, bonds, commodities and derivatives. The officials will focus on the transparency of trading and who should be responsible for capping commodity-trading positions.
