Personalized grocery coupons are on the rise

Grocers are increasingly using algorithms to personalize deals on items consumers purchase most, through loyalty programs and digital applications such as Safeway's just for U and similar digital-coupon programs at Kroger and Canada's Metro. While less than 5% of offers going out are individualized, growth of more than 30% is expected in the next eight years because of increased use and mobile innovation, dunnhumby CEO Simon Hay says.
