Shale production grows outside U.S.

The U.S. shale boom has sparked an energy revolution across the world, with countries such as China and Russia beginning to explore and develop their own shale energy reserves, industry experts say. "Within three to five years, there should be exponential growth in drilling as there was in the U.S. The big problem isn't replicating the geology, it's replicating the critical ingredients that got the American shale revolution going," said Citigroup chief commodities analyst Edward Morse. Energy consulting firm Wood Mackenzie said about 400 shale wells may come online outside of the U.S. next year.
