What common core looks like in some Miss. schools

Educators in a Mississippi elementary school are using more classroom discussions and hands-on projects this school year as part of the district's implementation of the Common Core State Standards. "It's more student-based learning," teacher Holly White said. "It's more like I'm the facilitator, (and) they're monitoring their own learning." Other schools are making changes as well, including designing intervention systems to help students navigate the more-rigorous standards.
