Washington schools chief proposes testing changes

Students should get four tries to pass the WASL exam, and those who fail repeatedly should be given an alternative assessment, state Superintendent of Public Instruction Terry Bergeson proposed Friday. She also said a high score on one section of the exam should negate a low score on another section.
