Mercury sees girl power as potent marketing niche

Trying to establish its own niche, Ford Motor's Mercury brand is pitching its products to women. The car maker is using venues like a Glamour magazine independent film contest and a giveaway on Ellen DeGeneres' talk show to market its cars to professional women in their mid-20s who are knowledgeable about their purchases.
