ASDA CEO calls for return to basics

Andy Bond, CEO of ASDA, the second-largest food retailer in Britain, says a return to business basics -- good products at good prices -- will help ease the pain of the looming recession. Bond also said the economic downturn offered an opportunity for sustainability efforts. He said that although 2009 likely will be a tough year for the industry, supermarket giants have an obligation to "deliver good, honest value".
