Facebook launches "Verified Apps" program

In an effort to exert control over the applications proliferating across its network, Facebook has launched a program under which developers can pay to have their applications certified as trusted. The program is expected to generate a good chunk of revenue for the social net; developers pay $375 to be considered for certification and must renew annually to maintain it.
