Saved by the "strategic buyers"

The sudden collapse of IPOs -- not a single deal has been done since August -- has forced a shift in strategy for venture capitalists, who used to profit by taking their investments public. But no worries, says one industry watcher, because the V.C.s have another possible exit strategy that you'll be hearing more about soon. Strategic buyers -- often tech companies -- are looking for startups that can help spur growth or exploit new niches.
