Lloyd Blankfein, chief executive of Goldman Sachs, apologized at a financial conference for the role his company played in bringing about the global financial crisis. "We participated in things that were clearly wrong and have reason to regret. We apologize," he said. Blankfein said he was joking when he told the British newspaper The Sunday Times that Goldman was doing "God's work." He said he wished he hadn't made the comment.
