Column: "There's an app for that," but should there be?

Tom Kaneshige of CIO.com wonders what kinds of retailers lend themselves to development of an iPhone application and which do not. "Some brands can leverage an iPhone app well," said Krishna Subramanian, founder of Mobclix. "This year eBay made over $400 million off their iPhone app, and the app hasn't even been out the entire year." Kaneshige argues that iPhone apps make sense for many retailers, but those without a compelling reason to be used should be avoided.
