2010 World Cup stadium found advantages in precast components

Precast-concrete building components were used at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, built for 2010 World Cup, because they provided flexibility, durability and increased productivity during the construction process. "I think the most obvious advantage is these products are made in a plant, and you're able to control the quality of the product a lot better," said Dave Thomas, a project manager at J&R Slaw, which has completed stadium projects for high schools and professional sports teams.
