California shopping centers strategize for Black Friday

Shopping centers in the Inland Empire area of California are relying on several strategies to lure still-cautious consumers into buying this holiday season. Montclair Plaza has a new mobile application while The Shoppes at Chino Hills is giving away gift cards to the first 200 people in line on Black Friday. "Retailers realize if volumes aren't going to be what they were, they still want to make sure they get their share, and that means being competitive," says Brad Kemp, an economist with Beacon Economics.
