Garfield, N.J., installs solar panels on 12 city buildings

The city of Garfield, N.J., has agreed to allow a solar-energy company to install panels on 12 city buildings. The company, Amberjack Solar Energy, will own, operate and maintain the panels for 15 years in return for the city's agreement to purchase the solar energy they generate. The city would save $250,000 a year in energy costs with this agreement, a company representative said.
