Los Angeles County sees rise in rabid bats in 2010:

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reported that 21 rabid bats have been found in the area so far this year, and residents are advised to avoid contact with wild animals and ensure their pets are up to date on their vaccinations. "If you see a sick bat or other sick animal, contact your local animal control agency," the agency said in a statement.
