Safety valves minimized impact of propane-facility fire

A propane filling station in Walton, Ind., caught fire -- but safety features worked as planned, ensuring that the blaze didn't post a threat to residents. A 500-pound propane tank was caught in the fire, but its safety valve worked correctly, enabling firefighters to keep the blaze under control.
