Texas botanical center to re-create prairie ecosystem on roof

The nonprofit Botanical Research Institute of Texas is planning a special kind of green roof on top of its $48 million headquarters under construction in Fort Worth, Texas. Landscapers are trying to re-create the historic ecosystem of the Fort Worth prairies of yore, planting prickly pear cactus, yucca, buffalo grass and sideoats grama in the 19,000-square-foot space.
