UNESCO gives Mexican cuisine its cultural due

An agency of the U.N. elevated Mexican food to "cultural treasure" status this week, the result of a yearlong push by Mexican chefs aiming to educate the world about their often-misunderstood cuisine. "It is no exaggeration to say that, along with French and Chinese, it is one of the three major cuisines of the world," said Spanish-language cookbook author Fernando del Paso.
