Mont. school district encourages teacher responsiveness

Students in Missoula, Mont., schools routinely outperform their counterparts around the state and nationwide in math and reading on the ACT and subject-area tests. District officials say the response-to-intervention teaching model in which teachers and schools have strategies in place to recognize struggling students and provide them individual assistance has contributed to the success.
