AMI market faces growing pains in U.S. as utilities work to sell benefits

Smart meters play a critical role in the drive to create smart energy networks, but thanks to slow adoption in much of the U.S. there remains a significant amount of untapped potential for providers of advanced metering infrastructure, research shows. While major rollouts continue, driven in part by a push to improve grid resiliency, experts say boosting adoption in low-penetration states such as Louisiana, Washington and Kentucky will require optimizing AMI analytics to bring value-added benefits to consumers.
