Carmat eyes 2015 approval for artificial heart in Europe

Marcello Conviti, CEO of Carmat, said his company is looking to finalize human studies of its artificial heart by the close of 2014 and win approval to launch the product in Europe in early 2015. The French firm said its product uses sensors and biological materials to mimic the activities of the human heart and can be used to replace the heart for as long as five years.
