Debate continues over automated kill switches for trades

Trading firms have upgraded technology to detect glitches and rogue traders, but debate continues over whether to automate systems that cancel trades without supervision. David Lauer, a consultant of market structure and technology at Verdande, said the industry is testing automated switches, but he noted monitoring concerns as employees might be desensitized because of the system's frequent false alarms.
