Expert: Successful corporate boards seek far-reaching diversity

Diversity and integrity are among the key elements that make a successful board of directors, says corporate governance expert Susan Shultz. Studies show that boards benefit from diversity in terms of ethnic background, gender, age and market disciplines, among several other factors, Shultz says. "A board that is not diverse in the current business environment will find it difficult to be responsive to its constituencies," she says.
