Fab labs are community workshop spaces that have computers and 3D printers; they're proliferating -- and they could be coming to your construction site. Imagine being able to create the building material you need onsite. Aesthetics and economy are two reasons architects might turn to fab labs and BIM because of "attractive capability at the commercial scale," C.C. Sullivan writes.
