Institute seeks to scale up production of OLEDs, organic solar cells

Organic light-emitting diodes and solar cells can now be produced beyond the lab on a somewhat larger scale under real-life conditions, and Germany's Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research IAP is seeking to take the next step with production at industrial scale. The institute's pilot plant employs a robot-driven inkjet-printing system. "Now for the first time it will be possible to translate new ideas into commercial products," said Armin Wedel, Fraunhofer head of division.
