NERC-sponsored simulation finds cooperation critical to grid security

The North American Electric Reliability Corporation and nearly 2,000 participants from industry, government and law enforcement completed a two-day security exercise last week with simulated physical and cyberattacks designed to test agency coordination and grid resiliency. "If there's one major takeaway, it is that we need to communicate often, communicate prior to a national security event and establish those relationships now," said Brian Harrell, NERC associate director of Critical Infrastructure Protection Programs.
