Rail project's $1.5B second phase in Calif. is halfway complete

Construction of the Expo Light Rail Line's $1.5 billion second stage from Culver City, Calif., to Santa Monica, Calif., is halfway done, according to the Expo E-News Fall 2013 newsletter. Crews are expected to install more than 30 miles of tracks between the two cities, and this part of the project is slated for operation by 2016. Council members in Santa Monica recently gave the green light to plans to build two hotels near the Expo Line.
