At what age should students begin school?

Schools in Sweden, Finland and other countries where students do not enrol in school until age 7 often outperform their peers in countries where students begin school at an earlier age, according to David Whitebread, a developmental psychologist at the University of Cambridge, and Sue Bingham, an early childhood education consultant. In this commentary, they recommend that places such as the United Kingdom, where students begin school as early as 4, reconsider their approach.
