Some meat plants expect increased USDA scrutiny

A USDA directive, which becomes effective Dec. 9, would focus on meat companies that don't routinely test their facilities for listeria. USDA inspectors will increase their testing of food products by checking the air, floor drains and equipment for bacteria.
