Iowa hospital punishes employees for patient data breach

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics has terminated one employee and suspended seven others without pay for inappropriately accessing patient health information. The hospital said it plans to conduct further training to ensure that its staff and volunteers understand the laws governing patient confidentiality and data security.
