Court ruling on Katrina cases won't hurt P/C insurers, expert says

Property/casualty insurers should not be affected by a court ruling that found the Army Corps of Engineers liable for the catastrophe losses in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina because the industry has settled most of the claims, said an official from the Insurance Information Institute. But the federal government could end up paying millions of dollars in damage claims as a result of the ruling.
