Nokia surprised by enterprise netbook interest

Businesses are giving netbooks close attention, a Nokia executive said today, a development that has surprised the cell phone maker, which recently launched its own Booklet 3G mini-laptop. "We thought it to be primarily a consumer device, but after the launch a big, growing interest is coming from companies," said Heikki Norta, the head of Nokia's corporate strategy. Also, Nokia launched its N900 smartphone in the U.S. on Wednesday -- the first Nokia device to run on Maemo software -- and since no wireless affiliate has signed on for the device, the handset carries a $649 price tag.
