Rep. Frank proposes requiring clearing of currency derivatives

Rep. Barney Frank, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, proposed a measure that would require currency-derivatives trades to be routed through central clearinghouses. The proposal is a surprise to foreign exchange bankers, who said it would lead to systemic risk.
