Smaller capital budget is expected next year, Marathon Oil says

Marathon Oil reported that its capital spending for 2010 will be trimmed by about $1 billion from this year's budget, but it will allocate more money for exploration and production ventures. The company also said it plans to focus on unconventional oil and gas reserves, as well as on the Gulf of Mexico and other deepwater prospects.
