House committee members wrangle over energy jurisdiction

Democratic and Republican members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee oppose a proposal by Rep. Doc Hastings, R-Wash., to expand the Natural Resources Committee's oversight to include energy policy. "I don't see any logic to it, and it looks like a power grab," said Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., outgoing chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee. Outgoing House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Nick Rahall, D-W.Va., says the proposal is unlikely to succeed.
