Bilingual education is touted in New Mexico

Students and teachers involved with bilingual education in New Mexico see a variety of benefits from the teaching of two languages. It has the obvious benefit of helping students become proficient in two languages, but many also believe bilingual education can help Latino students close the achievement gap. Some detractors, however, say classes should focus on English.
