More than 90% of employees at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle participate in the company's wellness program, which offers step-by-step goals and charges employees who don't meet the first-step deadline $50 per month. The center's health care spending growth rate decreased from 9% to 6.5%, and employee morale has risen.
