Hawaii is a "madhouse of solar," utility company says

Hawaiians are rushing to install solar panels on their homes, with so many panels in place that utilities are nervous about the impact of adding so much intermittent production to the grid. Hawaiian Electric briefly called for a moratorium on solar installations and is demanding "interconnection" studies before homeowners add panels. "The last three months are turning into a madhouse of solar here on Oahu," said Hawaiian Electric spokesman Peter Rosegg.
