Adjuncts encouraged to form alliances to improve working conditions

Part-time instructors at colleges and universities are seeking allies in the academic world as many look to form unions to improve salaries and working conditions. At a recent forum in Washington, D.C., hosted by the Service Employees International Union, adjuncts were urged to form alliances with groups beyond tenure-track faculty, including other staff members, students and tuition-paying parents.
