Calif. program helps turn coastline into an outdoor classroom

Collecting data on starfish was one of several activities students in an environmental science class in a California school took part in during a recent field trip to the coast. The outing was part of the school's participation in the Long-term Monitoring Program and Experiential Training for Students program. LiMPETS pairs students from 12 schools with staff at the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuaries to study marine life.
