Introductions are key when searching for VCs

Rather than trying to contact venture capitalists directly, it's important to try to build relationships with people who know investors, writes Jason Freedman, founder and CEO of 42Floors. That's because venture capitalists "don't want to meet you. They [want] to be introduced to you," he writes. Expand your network by reaching out to your friends, other entrepreneurs and the investors who have already put money into your startup, he writes.
