Ohio district seeks to curb unpaid meal debt

The Salem Board of Education in Ohio has adopted new policies aimed at curbing student meal debt. Under new rules, elementary students can accrue only up to $10 in unpaid meal charges before they will be served an alternative meal. The new policy was adopted in response to a large amount of unpaid meal debt. The district also does not allow middle- or high-school students to charge meals.
