Text messages can be good weight-loss tool, study finds

Obese women who got daily text messages focused on behavioral goals as part of a weight-loss program lost about 3 pounds, compared with a 2.5-pound weight gain among those who followed traditional diet methods, Duke University researchers reported in the Journal of Medical Internet Research. Lead author Dori Steinberg said increased use of mobile devices makes texting a good tool for weight-loss programs.
