U.S. FDA extends deadline for comments on 2 proposed FSMA rules

The comment period for two Food Safety Modernization Act rules proposed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration will be extended until Jan. 27. The agency is extending the comment period for its "Foreign Supplier Verification Programs for Importers of Food for Humans and Animals" and "Accreditation of Third-Party Auditors/Certification Bodies to Conduct Food Safety Audits and to Issue Certifications" rules in response to requests. The original deadline was Nov. 26.
