Zebra attack on keeper leads to gazelle death at National Zoo

A zebra at the National Zoo bit a keeper Monday, and the incident apparently spooked a nearby gazelle, who ran into a barrier and suffered fatal injuries. The keeper was in the zebra enclosure, a violation of zoo protocols, officials said. The staffer was transported to a hospital for treatment. The Dama gazelle suffered a vertebral fracture, according to preliminary necropsy results.
