Sen. Clinton tells teachers she opposes merit pay:

Merit pay can be "demeaning and discouraging" and is a bad idea in general, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., told Iowa teachers Monday. The presidential candidate said she does support schoolwide incentives or those for teachers who work in geographic areas or subjects where qualified educators are in short supply.
