Delta, US Airways restore frequent-flier perks

Under pressure from frequent fliers, Delta Air Lines said it will drop a program that allowed passengers to pay a surcharge for choice seats. Delta's Medallion-level members had complained that the program reduced the seats available for free as a reward to the airline's most loyal customers. In addition, US Airways said it was backing off an earlier move to eliminate minimum miles and bonus miles for its top-tier frequent fliers -- a policy that had effectively cut mileage accrual by up to 50%.
