Economic slump hurts Caribbean resorts

The global financial crisis is taking its toll on the tourism industry in the Caribbean, where construction has come to a halt on some swanky resorts. At the Ritz-Carlton Molasses Reef in West Caicos, for instance, 60 Chinese workers revolted last month to demand back wages, and the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas laid off about 800 workers because of low occupancies.
