Gerard: Energy policy needs to be on front burner

API chief executive Jack Gerard told reporters in Houston on Wednesday that the oil and gas industry could help get the U.S. economy back on track if the federal government opens up more land and waters to drilling. An increase in drilling would create jobs and add more revenue, through royalties on oil and gas, to the government's coffers.
